Onshore senior SAP AMS vs an offshore pod

Onshore senior AMS vs offshore pod

Offshore AMS is often the right answer. So is onshore senior support. What decides it is not the rate card but how your organisation actually consumes support, and both models are worth describing honestly before you choose one.

Where an offshore pod is genuinely the better choice

High, predictable ticket volume on a stable configuration. Follow-the-sun coverage requirements. A large internal HRIS or SAP team that can triage and specify, leaving the pod to execute well-defined work. Cost pressure where the volume of routine work is the dominant factor.

If that describes you, a well-run offshore AMS will serve you well and we will say so.

Where onshore senior support wins

Configurations that are still changing. Payroll and time, where an error is found by employees and remembered by regulators. Programmes where the people who designed the platform should be the ones who keep it running through each release. Organisations with Canadian or regional data residency requirements, or genuine French and Arabic service obligations.

In those cases the meaningful measure is not the hourly rate but how many senior hours your business consumes in a stable month, and how much of your own team’s time disappears into triage.

How AI changes the comparison

The traditional argument for an offshore pod was that routine work needs volume, and volume needs low rates. A senior team that fixes repeat causes at the source creates less routine work, and AI in our own delivery helps that team see project risks early.

It does not remove the offshore case. It narrows it to the situations where sheer volume, not judgement, is the constraint.

Frequently asked questions

Is onshore SAP AMS more expensive?

Per hour, yes. Per stable month, often not, because fewer senior hours are consumed and fewer incidents repeat. Compare the two models on consumed hours and on how much of your own team’s time goes into triage, rather than on the rate card alone.

Can you work alongside an existing offshore provider?

Yes. A common arrangement is a senior onshore team owning design authority, payroll, releases and escalations, with an offshore pod handling high-volume routine work. What matters is that one party holds design authority and it is written down.

Do you offer support in French?

Yes: support is delivered in English and French by practitioners who work in both languages, not through translation. For Canadian public-sector work we also deliver with Canadian-only teams where the contract requires it.
